| Before the foundation of the state, there are
several springs along two sides of Liu Xi river, gushing out
the hot water naturally, while the sand northeast of the river
(in front of the small north rivulet) is called ¡°hot sand¡±.
Water of hot spring may scald the hand, locally being called
"soup spring" and used for washing, and visitors can
boiled the egg in hot spring or bury it in the hot sand. In
1934 when developing the big round pool beside Yuhu rivulet
hall, it discovered that many mouths of hot springs gushed hot
water, hence it built two barrel-shaped pools, big and small,
what¡¯s more, it built small pools in them to flow into lower
villa bathrooms through pipes automatically. When built the
villa, Liu Peiquan set brick tablet in front of the mouth of
the hot spring (presently No. ZK5 hot spring pump of Hot Spring
Business Service Corporation) as a mark of developing the hot
spring (the tablet had been damaged and the new one was made
by hostel employees). |

¡¡Water quality fo hot spring |

Water of hot spring is limpid and sparkling and crystal-clear, colourless
and tasteless. After 1954, through successively analysis by Chemistry
Department of Zhongshan University, Medical College of Chinese People's
Liberation Army and Geological Department Hydrogeological Research
Institute to the water quality of several hot springs, and it confirmed
water of hot spring as the heavy sodium carbonate type, commonly called
as the soda mineral water. |

¡¡Medical function of hot spring water |

Water of hot spring contains the weak radioactive radon, important
in medical treatment. After the turb bath, it forms a membrane in
skin, lasting 3-4 hours. Membrane radon produces the ray constantly,
penetrates human body, while some radon is introduced into the human
body by breath and operates. Besides, it makes neural blood vessel
and histoorgan cause a series of responses to function as integrative
treatment through temperature and treating duration of the hot spring
water, function of quiet water pressure as well as some ion exchange
between mineral substance and human body. It is proved by the practice
of provincial cadre sanatorium that the hot spring water acts an obvious
curative effect in many illness like rheumatism, rheumatoid arthritis,
multiple arthritis, vertebra arthritis, inflammation around the joint,
muscle rheumatism and traumatism and sequelae, vertebra neuritis,
multiple neuritis, sciatica, neuritis, ulcer, chronic stomach trouble,
gynaecology chronic inflammation and incomplete ovary function. But
those patients of serious myocardium obstacles, artery ache, serious
malnutrition, feeble physical power and serious anaemia, serious high
blood pressure, bleed or haemorrhage, acute infectious disease and
feever is forbidden to use the hot spring water. |
